Magazine campaign: landing page, short link and QR code, connected

Updated on October 25, 2026

In short

A magazine ad takes three steps in bizCARD: build the landing page with AI, reusing the cards, booking and links already there; create a short link to that page with the campaign's UTM parameters; and generate the QR code by choosing that short link. The «Campaigns» report then compares the clicks of each magazine, and the page statistics show where the visits come from. The printed code stays valid even when the page or the destination changes.

The scenario: an ad page in a magazine

You have bought a page in a magazine. Readers should reach a page made for that campaign in one move, not your website's home page. You need three things: a dedicated landing page, a short link that leads there and records the campaign data, and a QR code to print alongside a short address for those who prefer to type it.

In bizCARD all three are made in the same portal and stay connected: the QR code points at the short link, the short link points at the page. If the page or the destination changes, what is already printed keeps working.

1. The landing page, written with AI

In «Pages» open the form for a new page. Upload the logo and up to five images: the first becomes the cover, the others the gallery. Write the title, the address and a description of the offer in your own words, then the text and destination of the main button.

With «Generate with AI» the AI writes headings, copy and call to action from the description, and builds the theme on your logo's colours. Without AI in the plan, the page is built straight from the form.

In the editor you reuse what is already in the portal, without writing it again:

  • A colleague's digital card, with the «Save contact» button.
  • Appointment booking, for readers who want to meet right away.
  • Short links you have already created, as quick links in a grid or a list.
  • Address with a map, social profiles and contact details.
  • The team's brand colours, in one click.

The preview on the right shows the page as readers will see it on their phone. When you are happy with it, publish it.

2. The short link with the campaign data

In «Short Link» create a new link. As the type choose «bizCARD page» and search for the page you have just published. Give it a readable name, for example magazine-autumn: it becomes the address bizcard.ch/link/magazine-autumn, to print below the code.

Then switch on the UTM parameters and fill them in. They are added to the address on every click and become the campaign data that bizCARD shows in the «Campaigns» report and in the page statistics:

ParameterWhat it saysExample
utm_sourceWhere the reader comes frommagazine-name
utm_mediumThe channelprint
utm_campaignThe campaignautumn-2026
utm_contentThe ad variantfull-page

Keep the same utm_campaign on every link of the campaign and change utm_source for each magazine: the report groups them by campaign and compares them by source. Settle the names before printing: if you change them later, the clicks already counted move to the new names.

The short link stores a reference to the page, not its address: if you rename the page later, the link follows it on its own.

3. The QR code for the printed page

In «QR Code» choose the URL type and, under «Select shortlink», search for the link you have just created. The code holds the short link's brief address: an open pattern that reads well even on glossy paper.

  • Design: brand colours and a logo in the centre, with high contrast between pattern and background.
  • Size: at least 2.5 × 2.5 cm, with a light margin of about four modules.
  • Format: SVG for the printer, because it stays sharp at any size.
  • Text: print the short address below the code too, for those who don't scan.
  • Test: before handing over the file, scan the print proof with two or three different smartphones.

4. Measuring the campaign

Under «Short Link», the «Campaigns» button gathers the links that share a utm_campaign. Open the campaign to see:

  • Clicks in the chosen period, compared with the previous one.
  • The day-by-day trend of each source, one line per magazine.
  • Rankings by source, medium and ad variant.
  • The campaign's links with their parameters and the clicks of each.
  • Countries, devices and times of the clicks.

In the page statistics, Sources, Mediums and Campaigns show where all the visits come from: the magazine through the short link, but also newsletters and posts with their own UTM parameters, sites that link to the page and direct visits. They are counted without cookies or visitor data.

All connected: what happens after printing

What happensWhat bizCARD does
You rename the page or change its addressThe short link follows the page, the QR code stays valid
You want to send readers to another pageYou change the short link's destination, without reprinting
You want to know whether the ad worksClicks per magazine and per day in the «Campaigns» report
You want to know what happens on the pageVisits per day, source and campaign in the page's statistics

The page statistics count visits from every channel; the short links' clicks only the magazines' readers. The page's «Campaigns» ranking shows how much print weighs in the total.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the destination after the magazine is out?

Yes. The QR code holds the short link's address, not the page's. Change the short link's destination and the copies already printed lead straight to the new page.

How big should the QR code be on a magazine page?

At least 2.5 × 2.5 cm, with a light margin all around. A magazine is read from 25–30 centimetres: the rule of thumb of one tenth of the reading distance gives exactly that size.

I'm running in two magazines: how do I tell which one works better?

Create one short link per magazine, all pointing at the same landing page, with the same utm_campaign and a different utm_source. Then one QR code per link. Open the campaign under «Short Link» › «Campaigns»: clicks, trend and share of each magazine sit side by side.

Which plan do I need?

Pages are included from the Solo plan, which builds the page from the form, together with short links and their «Campaigns» report. AI-written copy and page visit statistics, with sources and campaigns, are included from the Team plan.

What do I do when the campaign ends?

Don't unpublish the page while the magazine is still around: a short link to an unpublished page leads nowhere. Point the short link at another page or at the digital card instead, so someone scanning a year later still lands somewhere.
